Eazii is an up-and-coming DJ from Nigeria now living in Vancouver. Since falling in love with Manchester United, he has stayed loyal to his side, waking up at 4:30 a.m. to support his club through both the highs and lows. Whether it’s reading the pitch or the vibe of a room, Eazii thrives on timing, energy, and connection. We chopped it up with him about Yanited, Nigerian greatness, discovering DJing in Vancouver, and what it all means to him for What’s It To Ya?

Who’s your favourite Super Eagle, past or present?

Past would be Obafemi Martins for me. He played for Newcastle. Present would be, at the moment, Victor Osimhen. He’s been great for Nigeria, and he’s been great for Galatasaray.

When did you first fall in love with football?

I first fell in love with football during the 2008–2009 Champions League final between United and Chelsea. I remember it vividly. My mom had sent me on an errand, and on my way back I saw everyone watching the game, so I thought, okay, let me just have a look. I saw my friend watching too, so I stopped for about five minutes. United kept passing the ball to Ronaldo, and he was dribbling past every Chelsea player on the pitch. From that day on, I fell in love with my team, and I fell in love with the game of football.

What was the moment you decided Manchester United was your club?

Honestly, I think it was that Champions League final in 2009. I think it was Ronaldo. Growing up, I loved both blue and red, but because my friend supported Chelsea, I wanted to support the red team, which was Manchester United. Just watching Ronaldo play was the best experience ever. That’s what drew me to Manchester United, and I never regretted making that decision in my life. I’m a Red Devil for life.

What has been your favourite recent memory as a United supporter?

The most memorable moment as a United fan would be the game against Lyon in Europa last year—I believe it was the semi-final or the quarter-final. I had the opportunity to watch the game at a United bar. When the goal went in, everyone went crazy. That moment as a United fan was amazing.

When did you first get into DJing?

DJing came about while I was working for Arc’teryx when I first moved to BC in 2024. There were a couple of guys there—my boys Toby, AJ, and Christian—who would usually stay after work every Wednesday and have a spin session. That was where I got to bond with a couple of my coworkers. We would just spin, mix music, and introduce each other to new sounds. That’s how I first got into it, and I kind of just enjoyed doing it from then on.

Do you find there are any similarities between DJing and football?

For me, football and DJing are both about staying disciplined and anticipating the next moment. When I’m playing football, I’m thinking about when to defend, when to attack, and when to make a tackle. It’s the same thing with DJing: knowing what track to play next and what vibe I want to create to make people feel good. It’s all about anticipation, knowing what to do, and inspiring people in that sense.

If you could have one manager create a DJ tagline for you, who would it be?

That’s an interesting question. I think it would have to be the Special One — ‘I am José Mourinho.’ I think that’s the hardest line ever in football. So if I could have anyone make a tagline for me, it would have to be José Mourinho.
