SETH

WHAT’S IT TO YA?

We recently caught up with Vancouver’s very own Seth Sorensen. Seth’s love for football runs deep — passed down through generations, starting with his grandfather who was born in Liverpool. Naturally, that makes Seth a die-hard Red.

When he’s not cheering on Liverpool, you can find him holding it down at The Cornerstore, a cornerstone of Vancouver’s streetwear scene and a community hub in its own right.

We spoke to Seth about his connection to Liverpool, how family shaped his football journey, and the growing intersection between football and fashion in today’s mainstream culture.

What was your first memory with Liverpool?

My first memory of LFC was probably watching my grandfather watch a game when I was super young. That, and playing as Liverpool on FIFA 2005 on the Game Boy Advance.

How did your family influence you with football

My grandfather was born in Liverpool. He was a lifelong Liverpool fan, so it’s something I'm happy to continue the tradition of.

We are seeing football being ingrained in all aspects of pop culture. How do you feel about football kits being part of pop culture?

I think it’s amazing. Kits are not only iconic but something anyone can wear. You have such a wide variety of kits from every corner of Earth, and they can all tell a story.

We are seeing a lot of high fashion brands trying to make their way into the footballing world. What’s your opinion on seeing high end fashion brands trying their hand in the space?

I think fashion is for anyone and everyone. If Demna wanted to make a Balenciaga football kit, that's cool—it showcases how universal a football kit can be.

What are your football fashion red flags? (No pun intended)

Anyone sporting a United kit.

What is your favorite Liverpool kit? Is there one you’re still on the hunt for?

Would love to grip the 95/96 home kit with the thick neck. Not sure if I have a favourite kit, but you can never go wrong with any Liverpool kit with a Carlsberg sponsorship on the front.

Is there any significance on the kit you were wearing for this shoot?

Not really, aha. Might be the coolest Liverpool kit I own, and it was my most recent pickup.

You just won the Premier League. What are your expectations for next season?

Hopefully compete at the top of the table again. We’ll see what Slot can do with a full season under his belt and what happens when he starts bringing in guys he wants at the club. Having Mo and Virg sign new deals is great and will give us a chance to win some silverware next season.

Favourite player of all time?

I love Antoine Griezmann. Ronaldinho—class back in the day—and was one of the first players I can remember that exploded on YouTube during this time where things were becoming easier to watch on the internet. I would have to say Stevie G, Mo, or Virg would be up there for me, but to be fair, I think Roberto Firmino might have been one of my favourite Liverpool players to watch.

What’s Liverpool Football Club to ya?

It's a way to connect with my grandfather who has passed away. It’s a way to bond with people from different walks of life. There’s nothing like going to your local supporters club, grabbing a pint, and watching the match.
